The SPQF is built in the open. This is a new journey for all of us - and you are part of shaping it.

A framework shaped by the people who use it

The Specialist Practice Quality Framework is an open, living document published under Creative Commons. It does not belong to any one organisation - it belongs to the specialist practice community that uses it, questions it, and improves it.

Nothing like this has existed before for specialist medical practices in Australia. There is no established playbook, no decades of precedent, and no peak body mandating how it should work. That means the people closest to the problem - practice managers, clinicians, and quality professionals working in specialist settings every day - are the ones best placed to shape what this becomes.

We are building this together, and every question, suggestion, and real-world experience makes the framework better for everyone.

How to get involved

Join the conversation

Our WhatsApp group is where practitioners discuss implementation challenges, share what is working, and ask questions. It is informal, supportive, and open to anyone involved in specialist practice quality.

Suggest improvements

Found a gap in the framework? Think an indicator could be clearer? Have evidence that a quality statement needs updating? We want to hear it. The framework improves when people challenge it constructively.

Share your experience

If you have started implementing the SPQF - even partially - your experience is valuable. What worked? What was harder than expected? What would you tell another practice manager just starting out? Real stories help more than any guideline.

Report errors

Spotted an error, inconsistency, or broken link? Let us know through the community or contact us directly. All corrections are acknowledged in the changelog.

Join the SPQF Community

We use a WhatsApp group to keep things simple and accessible. No accounts to create, no passwords to remember - just a group of people who care about quality in specialist practice.

What to expect

This is an early-stage community. We are not pretending it is a bustling forum with thousands of members - it is a small, growing group of people who are genuinely interested in improving quality in specialist practice.

That is exactly what makes it valuable right now. The people who join early will have the most influence on how the framework evolves, what resources get built next, and what the community becomes.

There are no silly questions. If you are a practice manager wondering whether your incident register counts as evidence, or a clinician trying to understand what clinical governance looks like in a two-doctor practice - those are exactly the conversations we want to have.
